ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Successful fundraising efforts resulting in meaningful results…
Since 2005, DJLF Charity Foundation USA and DJLF Charity Philippines have raised a total of around PHP 15 Million ($300,000) to date. The successful fundraising campaigns through the years can be attributed to the dedication and relentless efforts of Academy graduates and former cadets who donated their financial resources, time and effort in the pursuit of DJLF’s objectives. In addition, members reached out to their family members, relatives and friends to do the same.
As a result of the fundraising campaigns which came in the form of personal contributions, raffles, golf tournaments and special targeted efforts, the foundation has granted 58 scholarships covering tuition, books and other educational materials leading to the completion of a college degree.

DJLF is Now LCFI
DJLF was transformed into a tax-exempt nonprofit organization known as Loakan Charity Foundation, Inc. (LCFI) on 17 October 2017.
Notwithstanding its successful efforts to raise funds, members, donors and patrons floated the idea of making donations tax-exempt. With the approval of LCFI’s 501 (c)(3) status, it was hoped that donations to the new foundation will increase. On 2 February 2018, the Virginia State Corporation Commission authorized LCFI to operate in accordance with its non-stock, nonprofit status.
LCFI’s “Articles of Incorporation” includes a two-fold objective: (1) to promote youth education and development and (2) to promote the well-being of its needy members that meets its criteria for financial assistance.

The Covid-19 pandemic with its devastating worldwide impact did not spare LCFI’s effort to continue its fundraising efforts in support of its dual objectives. In the two-year period during the pandemic between 2020 – 2022, donations came to almost a trickling halt. The one big saving grace was the fundraising event celebrating the 80th birthday of DJLF’s Founding Father, Cav Winston Arpon, fondly called “El Ninong” by those who have been connected in varying degrees with DJLF. Luckily, the funds raised at the event helped in no small measure to continue supporting the seven scholars going to school at that time.
