Faces of Hope

In Their Own Words

Our first LEAP scholars share what the scholarship meant to them.

“We know we're leaning on a great wall.”

College could have been much harder without help from anyone… Clear is the support that is being given. From tuition, requirements, books and other college stuff, [DJLF handles] the worry. No sweat for us when facing these things, because we know we're leaning on a great wall. Our only sweat is just facing the academic toil…

“I don't want to waste the blessings that I have now.”

I don't want to waste the blessings that I have now… I thank you all for being a part of my first year.

“Someday I will be successful like them.”

I always remember the people who helped us, people who are kind and supportive. I value all of these things… Sir Rhyss (Hizon) and Tito Dan (Perico) gave me advice. Whenever I read their email, I am inspired and hope that someday I will be successful like them.

“At that very moment, my world brightened.”

…the launching of [the] Scholarship program. I think that was my most unforgettable moment… [I was] on the verge of depression because of the thought that I can't pursue higher education because my parents cannot send me to college, but at that very moment, my world brightened… A million thanks to all of you. God bless…

“It opened a new door of hope for my future.”

College – two questions come to mind. ‘What course would I take?’ ‘Who will support me?’ It was a great opportunity for me to be a DJLF-LEAP scholar because it opened a new door of hope for my future… Thanks to all of you who have a big heart… Mabuhay!
